The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian government-sponsored public service program conducted by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India which was begun in 1969. Its primary aim is personality development through social (or community) service. The NSS motto is “Not me, not you, but we”.

The NSS motto expresses the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for service, an appreciation of another person’s point of view and consideration for fellow human beings. It illustrates that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of society as a whole; therefore, it is the aim of the NSS to demonstrate its motto in day-to-day activities The SNS Polytechnic also has NSS Activity and functioning as well. Sri.Divakar Shetty, Lecturer Department of Automobile SNS Polytechnic is co-ordinator for NSS.

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Central Sector Scheme of Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. It provides opportunity to the student youth of 11th & 12th Class of schools at +2 Board level and student youth of Technical Institution, Graduate & Post Graduate at colleges and University level of India to take part in various government led community service activities &programmes. The sole aim of the NSS is to provide hands on experience to young students in delivering community service. Since inception of the NSS in the year 1969, the number of students strength increased from 40,000 to over 3.8 million up to the end of March 2018 students in various universities, colleges and Institutions of higher learning have volunteered to take part in various community service programmes.

Motto

The Motto of NSS “Not Me But You”, reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for self-less service. NSS helps the students develop appreciation to other person’s point of view and also show consideration to ‘/other living beings. The philosophy of the NSS is well doctrine in this motto, which underlines/on the belief that the welfare .of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society on the whole and therefore, the NSS volunteers shall strive for the well-being of the society.

NSS Committee

As per the order of Department of Technical Education, a NSS committee was established on 16.07.2018 in our institution.

Objective

To inculcate social welfare in students, to provide service to Society and to encourage he students to take part in various social activities thereby develop their personality.

Organization

The NSS Committee consists of Faculty Coordinator, Student Coordinators, and Volunteers. The Faculty Coordinator manages overall operations, with Student Coordinators assisting in planning and execution. Volunteers actively engage in social welfare activities under their guidance, contributing to societal betterment.
